Congrats on moving the forum from Yahoo to your own website and with respect to the new developments within Avalon :-)

I opened a topic in Yahoo yesterday with respect to connecting the Asiair to Stargo. I will copy/paste it to this forum:

"Am trying to figure out how to connect the recently purchased Asiair and which cable I would have to buy. USB to USB doesn't seem to work (however i've tested with a very old cable; might be a broken cable). According the shop where I purchased the Asiair it cannot be used on an Avalon mount but after checking with ZWO they informed me it should work. Does anybody use the Asiair on their Stargo mount? Statement made by ZWO:
It should be thru the RS232 serial cable. BUT, if the AVALON integrated the control system in the mount body likes the iOptron CEM40 does, yes, it could be thru the USB port on the mount. Maybe we need to contact the AVALON company to confirm that.
Have a nice day.

I don't own an ASI Air but I believe it works based off the INDI protocol. If that is the case it should work with the following driver indilib.org/devices/telescopes/avalon.html . You would just need to configure the ASI Air to start the avalon driver at the same time it starts up the ZWO camera driver.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure if the Asiair can be configured at all. I've tried different sequencies of connecting the mount and camera's by using an USB A to USB B cable. In a dropdown list of a menu in the Asiair app Avalon Stargo is indeed listed. However no luck yet to connect to the mount. The app crashes upon trying to establish a connection. So most likely I would need to connect the Asiair by using the by ZWO supplied RSR232 serial cable (RS232 male to USB A) . Does anybodyknow which cable I would have to buy and where to buy it (RS232 female to RJ45 male I would assume?)

The StarGO USB port is based on the FTDI chip and the ASIair seems to be based on Raspberry/Raspbian/Ubuntu OS, so it is important that the FTDI driver must be installed on the ASIair in order to be able to connect with the StarGO via USB, by using the Avalon INDI protocol that you can download here:
indilib.org/devices/telescopes/avalon.html

Anyway we will test the ASIair within the next few days, so we will let you know about

Hi Daan,
similar as Chris I do not own a ZWO Asiair, but I am using the Avalon INDI driver on a Raspberry PI with my Avalon Linear now for almost two years. Simply plug the white USB cable that you get with your Avalon into the Asiair and everything should work. At least I never had problems with it.

Could you provide log files - or at least more details what "crashing" means?
