I forwarded some screenshots (see below, sorry for the poor quality) and asked about the log files. Reply from ZWO:

"Thank you, got your messages and read through the Avalon forum, fed back to our devs, they will find out the solution.
BTW, the logs are not available yet.

This is the first sceen after starting up the ASIair

After pressing enter in the next screen it's clear that the mount is not connected

After pressing on the Telescope icon you enter the Telescope settings screen. The field with BAUD is blank there is however a pulldown menu with various BAUD rates

Upon trying to reconnect (I've tried all the available baud rates) the APP crashes

I'm starting to think that the ASIair client is crashing when it receives a property from the Avalon driver that it is unable to handle.
It may/should be possible to view the log files on the SD card as long as logging is enabled. They are stored under /home/<user>/.indi/logs The .indi folder is hidden
If logging is not enabled it might be possible to enable by connecting through another client like Kstars/EKOS or even PHD2 and enable logging through the INDI control panel

Thanks Ken. Maybe Mauro can have a look because I really don’t know how to connect it through another client.

Meanwhile I’ve read on the ZWO forum that ZWO will forward a beta version to Mauro for testing.

Meanwhile I’m considering to use StellarMate on a PI. I’ve read that I could use it with a mobile application, However, it seems to me that most people use a laptop. One of the strong points of the Asiar is the GUI. How does the StellarMate compare? Should I be able to control all my gear by using the mobile app or would I run into problems or limitations?

The Stellarmate equivalent is called EKOS Live. You could ask about it over at the INDI forum indilib.org/forum/general.html
EKOS Live needs an internet connection
