Hello everyone,
I am a recent owner of the Avalon Linear and I am facing some weird problems that I think (I can be wrong) related to the stargo software. If I connect everything like a normally do, but the Avalon instead of my older mount, the other ascom equipment start acting up. My ZWO EFW uses ASCOM and it disconnects, my Celestron focus motor is having a similar problem. More details below.

I have stargo 6.2.0 sp3, and i use SGP and PHD2 along with stargo for slewing, centering, imaging, and guiding. All of them are configured to run as admin, I even went to the ascom folders to tag every exe to run as admin.

I have to fiddle with USB ports and connection sequence of equipment to get some of them to work. The focuser is always giving me trouble with lag for example, when changes are done few minutes later, or it disconnects completely until and replug the cable. The focuser works fine on its own, it starts having problems when I plug the avalon (even without connecting stargo or ascom). Same goes for the EFW.

Does the above make sense to anyone? I am lost at what to do. Currently below is the best I came up with:
1. Connect everything physically
2. open stargo, connect, sync home position, close stargo
3. open sgp, connect focuser throgh ascom generic hub (not celestron ascom directly) and Avalon throught he .NET thing
4. This works, sometimes windows will say USB device not recognized (Avalon), I have to power cycle it (it happens a lot). The focuser sometimes doesn't work properly so I disconnect and reconnect. Then everything works, but I have not tested extensively.

I have tried changing USB cables, using a good quality powered USB hub, 2 different laptops, and the problems only start when I use the Avalon mount. Which led me to suspect it doesn't like other ascom devices much, or I am doing something completely wrong.

Regards,
Michel

Hello Michel

Please provide the error message screenshot and a screenshot of your Device Manager window when all devices are connected.

Would be also really helpful if you could provide us your mount configuration file.

To save your own mount configuration file, with the StarGo Software opened and connected, go to the “SYSTEM” tab → “MOUNT CONFIGURATION FILE” box and type inside the field at the bottom right your preferred mount configuration file name, then click on the “SAVE” button.

Then you will find your own mount configuration file inside the StarGo Software folder.

Let us know about.

Best regards

Stefano

Hi Stefano,
Please delete this thread to avoid confusion to others. The issue is now resolved and it wasn't due to avalon. Half of it was the laptop, and the other half was the focuser refusing to work through a hub, even when powered.

Michel
