M-Zero voltage was created by toriqo
Hi,

I just bought the uber AWESOME M-Zero mount and I have a few questions about it.

1. You state that for high torque it needs to run at 15V. Somewhere in the manual and on your website I saw the mount needs to use 15V-18V. Is that accurate? Can the mount work with 18V as well?
2. I'm using PegasusAstro's Pocket Power Box which only outputs 12V. Is there a problem if I set the speed to Ultra (or Fast, I forgot which is the max speed) while the mount is using 12V? Is it going to put extra strain on the power source or will it just NOT work at max speed?
3. Would you recommend AGAINST taking the mount out on 100% humidity? Will that affect its electronics? If so, what's the max humidity at which it can be safely used?
4. I've updated to StarGo 6.2.0 SP1 which was suppose to make the option "Disable meridian flip" permanent. And yet, every time I start, I have to manually disable meridian flip. I should mention I'm using INDI. The same goes for the ST4 enabled/disabled option. I always have to disable it, it's not saved on the mount either. The rest of the options (location, guide rate etc. are saved correctly).

Thank you!

2. The mount comes with a LinQ universal voltage converter that can use AC or DC inputs. The 12v DC from your PPB will be stepped up to 15v to enable fastest slews.

Thanks, but I'm not using the LinQ converter. I'm powering the mount directly from the PPB (direct 12V cable). Now that you've remembered me about it (I forgot about this nice feature) I will be using it. The other parts of the question still remain though. Plus the rest of the questions :)

Hi Torigo
Welcome in the Avalon world!!
1) The StarGO can work till to 18V but I suggest to work till to 16V at least
2) As already explained from JG you can use the power supply that comes with the mount as step-up DC-DC converter, so you can use the 12V as input power
Anyway you can still use the 12V directly, but in this case I suggest to reduce the max slew speed to Fast or Medium to avoid to loose the mount position, due to the stepper driver low voltage
3) The mount and the StarGO can work in high humidity conditions without problems, anyway, if you can protect the StarGO electronic box, it is surely a better situation...
4) In our Support page you can find the Install_StarGo_610_NFlip_Beta.exe installer, in this version the StarGO start with the Meridian Flip feature disabled as default and it should work also by using INDI, just try it and let me know about
For the ST4 parameter, I must check if it will be possible to store it in memory.... I'll let you know about

Clear skies!

Thank you for the answers, Luciano!
I have one more question though. When connecting wirelessly to the mount using SkySafari, is there a way to set Home Position? Because it's never on the NCP.

Thank you.

Hi Toriqo.

Yes there is a way to set the Home Position using SkySafari.

You can find the step by step procedure explained on the StarGo User Manual 4.1.0 page 61, chapter 4.4, paragraph 3.

You can also watch this video tutorial that shows how to perform it:
