Cannot connect StarGo with PC anymore was created by Klaus Piber
Hello,

I have been using my Linear mount for 5 years now and I am quite happy with it. However, yesterday I suddenly could not connect my laptop (PC) with StarGo anymore. I rebooted all devices several times, checked the cables - still no connection (always used the USB cable for connection, never WiFi).

I am using StarGo version 7.0.9, firmware 6.4.0, and ASCOM driver 7.1.2.6. I have upgraded to the ASCOM platform 7 recently. Yesterday was the first imaging session since the upgrade. Is it possible that the StarGo driver is not compatible with the newest ASCOM platform? Or maybe the USB cable or the USB port in the StarGo device are defect? I’d appreciate it very much if you could provide me with the support needed to get my Linear working again.

Thanks in advance!Klaus

Dear Klaus
We have performed a connection test with the same configuration mentioned (StarGo version 7.0.9, firmware 6.4.0, ASCOM driver 7.1.2.6) after an ASCOM 7 update.
In our case we have connected successfully (see image below).

Try to reload the firmware as described in the video linked below and let us know about:

If after the firmware upload method doesn't fix the issue we'll make a deeper inspection on this matter.
Kind regards

Stefano

Dear Stefano,

thank you for your quick reply. I reloaded the firmware as shown in the video. The only window I get is the following:

But nothing happens for minutes. Would be great if you could help me to dig deeper into this issue.
Thanks in advance,

Klaus

Hi Klaus

Thanks for provide us this screenshot, we are looking into and we'll back to you ASAP.

Just one further request in order to rule out any possible reason for this issue. Can you roll back to the previous ASCOM version? If coming back to the 6.6 everything works, then we have to keep on work on this way to search the reason of the bug, but if rolling back the system keep on preventing the connection, we have to turn on another way.

Kind regards.

Hi Stefano,

Thanks for your advice! I have downgraded the ASCOM platform to version 6.6 - and the connection to the mount is indeed working again!
Before the troubles started, I upgraded the ASCOM platform from version 6.3 to 7.0. Maybe this was too big of an upgrade? Anyways, it's obvious now, that somewhere in this upgrading process something went wrong.

For the time being, I am happy that the mount seems to be running smoothly again. However, considering future software updates, it would be great to identify the bug. How would you like to proceed?

Thanks for your help!

Klaus
